Following my posting I find the issue is with W3 Total Cache. I de activated this plugin and installed WP Super Cache. This was easier to set up with MAX CDN and even better; work with WP Subscribers without issues! So you could call this solved

Hi Jean. I turned off other plugins but only get this when the pop up box shows and is closed. Let me post in the template developers forum and see if they come up with anything. Thanks for your support and I'll come back to this post when I get a reply

Perhaps I've missed something but I find that when visitors subscribe, click on the confirmation link in their email box they are added to my mailchimp account. However, shouldn't they also be added to my users/members list in wordpress

When I decide to close the pop up optin a box with text 'this text should be here' appears over the top right of the page across the menu
Any ideas
