we are not supposed to make released in an hurry like we did this week. so usually I was posting the version as a beta in the forum for user validation ( and translator ) then I publish the version as a final.
when nothing is done on the program, there is no new translation strings to update, and that's what I define a revision ( 4.0.4.3a , b , c ) , when the binaries didn't change but some script or languages have been updated.
there are no perfect solution at least that's the one I will follow. but I agree with your theorical practice is the best one , when you are running in a quiet mode.
