How does the referral option work? Examples?

I'm thinking of buying this but the main reason is the referral function. That's how I found this. Is it just a side feature and not very important? Because I can't find any pics of the interface or example blogs with it or pics. Can someone post some pics or website links? Also your thought on that? Thanks
