Activated and stopped google analytics + sitemeter working!

I activated the wp-subscribers plugin on my website and it stopped google analytics and sitemeter working 
I spent ages trying to find out why my stats stopped and thought the site had tanked, only to find after deactivating wp-subscriber the stats worked again.
Why has this happened and do other people have the same problem?
Somewhat concerned!
